Father's Day

Happy belated father's day to all dads out there. To my own dad...you're the best.

In honor of Father's Day and Saturday Circle Game that I missed this weekend (because of camping...more on that later), I want to know the best advice your dad has given you. Check the comments for my own dad's words of wisdom.

I don't remember my dad using many popular sayings but I have heard him give two pieces of advice several times to me and different groups of people.
1) The messy areas of life are sometimes were opportunities hide. Dad in a sermon at church once you used a word to describe spontaneous events that have happened in your life. Do you remember the word? I am drawing a blank.
2) We can all, as individuals, make a difference in our community on a local level and a global level.
Thanks, Dad. We are listening.

father's day (and camping) were both lovely because you and your family were a part of my days. ;)

Very nice babes. You make an old man proud. Would the word you are referring to be "serendipity?"

I know you do listen. That is wonderful and frightening for a parent.

Malissa, we were glad to be with you as well. You are always welcome. We enjoy being with you and will miss you when you are farther away. Best of luck. Stay in touch. Don't be a stranger.

(Can your Dad be any sweeter? I think not.)

"Dad" - don't worry about a thing - i'm certain that you will be seeing me for many, many years to come.

I guess the most important piece of advice I ever got from my dad was to "always check your oil."
I didn't get much in the way of lessons about life or words to live by from my parents. Pretty much their theory on life is "life is a bitch, you will never be happy, so deal with it." That is a direct quote...am I lying wifey?
Not that they were bad parents, they just don't have much to offer in that arena.

I don't remember any life altering advice. He did teach me that hard work can get you want you want. Whether it be a new pair of pants or a thinner waist line.

One thing I do miss is the walks(jogs) we took when I lived at home.
